Various projects from the UI/UX Design Academy
This is an app based on the following scenario:
The Brunchery is a local brunch restaurant looking to make an app for users to order food from their menu. The Brunchery already has established colors that you must work with, but the typography is up to you. The feature requirements are…
Some kind of **logo/branding** whether it is found online or made yourself
A **home screen** that **includes some way to display food categories** including Small Bites, Breakfast, Brunch, Cocktails, and Coffee & Tea
**View of the food** in at least one of those categories
Detailed view of at least one food item that includes ability to customize and add to cart
Here is what I came up with!
(It is egg themed!)
This is an app for a popular store at UNC-Chapel Hill called Alpine's Bagels.
This week's project was focused on design fundamentals including:
Alignment: Involves arranging UI elements in relation to the borders or edges of an allowable area to connect UI elements spatially
Balance: Refers to the visual weight on each side of a design that should feel cohesive and intentional to create a feeling of balance
Contrast: Using visual design elements that appear clearly different, so users can easily deduce that the contrasting item is different
Emphasis: The part of the design that catches the viewer's attention by contrasting an element with other elements.
Hierarchy: The arrangement of elements to create visual organization and influence how the human eye scans information in a design
Movement: Using design elements to guide the user’s eye along a predetermined path in a composition
Pattern: Utilizing reusable/recurring components which designers use to solve common problems in user interface design
Proportion: Refers to the relationship between objects with reference to their size and visual weight.
Proximity: Describes how similar UI elements are closely placed or grouped together.
Repetition: Repeating a single element many times in a design.
Rhythm: Using intervals or spaces between elements to give the user an impression of rhythm or movement.
Unity: Fuses all other principles within a piece of work, allowing each individual element to coexist with one another to form an aesthetically pleasing design.
Variety: The use of several UI elements and principles of design to hold the viewer’s attention and to guide the viewer’s eye.
White Space: Refers to the empty space between and around elements of a design or page layout; also called “negative space”.
This is a dating app I created for App Team's UI/UX Design Academy. The flower art was created by artist @alev.neto on Instagram. This week's project was focused on color theory and typography. I wanted to develop a unique experience for users that draws from more traditional dating experiences, like buying your partner flowers!
I added the following features to the design:
Messaging
Flower sending
User section
I also created a potential logo for the app branding.
This is a period tracking app I created for App Team's UI/UX Design Academy. I wanted to design a sleek and secure app for women to use to track their menstrual cycle.
I added the following features to the design:
Start and stop buttons
Menu
Period tracker (with day counter)
Daily Journal
Profile section
Overall, I wanted to create a simple design that would protect user data.
This is a redesign for a parking app (rendered to the right) that I completed with Maddox Tapp from the University of Michigan. The original parking app design (shown below) was provided by App Team Carolina at UNC Chapel Hill.
I added the following features to the design:
User profile
Current location
Additional search / filter options
Increased functionality of the map
Favorite button
The goal of our adaptations was to increase the familiarity of the app and to maintain consitency across the pages.
This is a redesign of TikTok that I completed during a UI/UX design workshop led by Morgan Roberts at UNC Chapel Hill. I started by designing the TikTok screen. Then, using Morgan's starter file, I created a prototype of the app as well as a mockup.
